on a deal to keep the u.s. from going over that fiscal cliff. ktvu kyla campbell reports from our washington, d.c. newsroom some new numbers are on the table in those closed door negotiations. >> reporter: they are offering to raise taxes on households making $450,000 or more a year. but republicans were still holing out at the $550,000 mark. senate republican leader mitch mcconnell started negotiating with vice president joe biden yesterday. the two worked together in in the senate for more than 20 years. if they can come up with terms that pass the senate house speaker john boehner says they will take up the bill and either pass it or amend it and send it back for approval. >> any time you are putting a deal together, it's always the details that will kill you. you have to get the details done. there is a lot of back room operation going on right now. making sure all the i's get dotted and t's get crossed. >> congress has less than 15 hours to come up with a compromise and sweet on it. live in washington kyla campbell. >>> meantime with all the focus on that fiscal cliff there is a new bil

couples started lining up for licenses when washington's law allowing gay marriage went into effect. they require a three day waiting period. so today is the first day couples can marry. 140 same sex couples are going to marry later on today. >>> the new gay marriage law comes as the supreme court announces it will review same-sex marriage including proposition 8. it will look at a challenge that denies them the benefits that the heterosexual couples receive. the supreme court reviewed to look at the challenge which bans gay marriage in california. they will hear argumentses in march and with rulings expected by june. >>> a group is urging the photograph to ban the salvation army. they made the request after a student acted and said the homeless shelter and soup kitchens refused to offer same sex couples. and a woman was teed access to a women's shelter. >>> the campus at san bernardino said they not and killed a student. few tails have been released. they were forced to fire their weapons after a graduate students became violent. he was treated for life-threatening injuries. >>> a

washington. the school the building itself is being worked on. remember i told you we had a secondary crime scene of the exterior of the school. our detectives have every one of them searching every one of them. we are beginning to release those back to their owners. slowly but surely we're beginning to complete the exterior part of the crime scene. the governor and lieutenant governor are on site that have been actively involved. one thing that is becoming somewhat of a concern and that is miss information is being posted on social media sites. there has been miss information coming from people posing as the shooter in this case, posing using other id's. mimicking this crime and crime scene and activity that took place in this community. there has been some things in somewhat of a threatening manner. it is important to know that we have discussed with federal authorities that these issues are crimes. they will be investigated statewide and federally. and prosecution will take place when people are identified. again, all information relative to this case is coming from these microphones and
